You Can Smell It

mkg2.jpgTwo more games remain in the short road to the “rest of the schedule. Game one against Michigan State was a success but the nerves still remain. Losing Mario will be good for us and if we can keep everyone else healthy through Iowa I like our chances. It’s becoming more apparent that Wisconsin is the clear number three team in this conference (maybe even number two…) and yet they don’t play Ohio State this year (so we might never know). With that being said we need to continue to validate, should be an exciting Saturday night.

As for the Tigers, they beat the Yankees with their strength, pitching. It was written here just two weeks ago that the Tigers future is bright but those sentiments were seen as condescending. My words for some reason couldn’t be taken at face value so let me re-post and you be the judge…

Nothing like looking to the future before we live out the present but regardless of what happens to the Tigers this post-season, they need to get comfortable playing in October. With two staff aces in Verlander and Bonderman, a thick bullpen that includes power arms in Rodney and Zumaya, and a lineup with both speed and power the Detroit Tigers window of opportunity is as wide open as it’s ever been…The Yankees clearly have the edge offensively but the sentiment in the sport is that great pitching beats great hitting. Can the Tigers pitching be great?... Needless to say, the future is bright for Los Tigres. Having a team for the next few years that will only need to be tweaked is a luxury only the Tigers and few others have…So while you’re sitting at home rooting on the newly located boys from Michigan and Trumbull don’t get so wrapped up in each individual game and allow yourself to enjoy the idea that the Tigers are back in the playoffs and barring any physical setbacks should be here for quite some time.

This, my friends is the truth. And all they need are two more victories, and they’re World Series bound for the first time in 22 years! Enjoy it! These moments don’t last for ever, just ask the Yankees…And whether you want to hear it or not, these boys are the favorites from here on out.

I have to admit I was a doubter, but after watching these first two games of the ALCS, I have to say they are good!

As for this weekend.. I will begin my journey in a few short hours and am really looking forward to my first journey to Joe Pa's house in Pennsylvania!

You want predictions?

Michigan 31
Penn State 17

Go Blue and The BEARS too!
